ADDITIONAL CARE
Bougainvillea tomato red is known for its ability to thrive in well-drained or slightly dry soils, particularly in very warm climates. Its vibrant blooms are more pronounced in dry conditions, making it a popular choice for adding color to arid landscapes. However, it is important to avoid overwatering this plant, as too much moisture can lead to an excessive amount of foliage but a lack of bright blooms. Additionally, when planting a nursery plant, it is recommended to keep the root ball intact.
Like other Bougainvillea tomato reds, it thrives in well-drained or slightly dry soils in very warm climates. It also blooms far more showily when conditions are dry. If overwatered, even in the desert, it will produce too much foliage and insufficient color. Bougainvillea Tomato Red has a large fibrous root system that resents disturbance, so when planting a nursery plant, keep the root ball intact. It is among the queens of climbers for walls, fences, arbors, shade structures, gazebos, and even thrives climbing onto roofs or treetops.
