White Mulberry | Morus Alba | Silkworm Mulberry trees are very fast growers that are not particular about soil type. They will grow in clay, loam, or sandy soil, whether it be alkaline or acidic. They prefer full sun but can grow in part shade. White mulberry cannot tolerate as much shade as the U.S native red mulberry though. Mulberry trees require full sunshine and must be spaced at least 15 feet apart for proper growth. While white and red varieties require 4 hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight in most cases, they can grow in partial shade in specific growth conditions. Water newly planted plants should be pruned on a regular basis to promote the growth of a strong root system. Once developed, they should be able to obtain their water demands from the environment.

Both organic and non-organic fertilisers work well on white mulberry. The demand for fertilisers rises as plant height and foliage cover increase, and it also relies on the fertility and nature of the soil where it grows.Prune the plant before winters or at the start of spring season. Winter trimming reduces the risk of pests and disease in growth. Pruning organizes the tree and promotes growth for the next season. After trimming, remove plant waste and single material from your garden or field. At regular intervals, check your plants for signs of pests, disease, or weeds. Always be prepared for any changes in the weather or other conditions that may affect your plants. Keep removing weeds from your field, especially under the plant. When needed, irrigate white mulberry.
