ADDITIONAL CARE
Roselle | Karkade is simple to grow from seeds or cuttings and is usually planted outside in the spring. In 4 to 5 months, the plants begin to blossom, and the calyces are ready for harvest in the winter. Calyces should be picked when they are tender and plump; they will keep for around a week after being picked. Harvesting encourages the growth of additional flower buds. You won’t need to grow a lot of roselle to get a good fruit; with proper care, one plant will provide numerous fruits.
Roselle prefers well-drained soil and enjoys watering when rainfall is low. This plant does not grow well in the shadow and requires a lot of light to thrive. It is only hardy in zones 9-10 and is susceptible to frosts and freezes; harvest before temperatures fall below 40°F. The main pest you will have to deal with when producing roselle is root-knot nematodes, therefore use crop rotation to reduce worm issues.
