Place them in a room with cool temperatures of between 50 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. They need ample bright but indirect sunlight. Since the plant is of short duration, you don’t need to give them abundant amounts of fertilizer. Water them with half-strength liquid fertilizer early in their bloom season and again about a month later. Pick off the faded flowers just as you do with outdoor plants. Too much fertilizer can actually damage plants so it’s important to follow the package directions to determine how much, and how often, to feed plants. Prune Primula Obconica | Primerose Purple plants freely to maintain the desired size and shape. However, pinching plants back stimulates dense, bushy new growth and encourages more flowers. Additionally, remove old flowers to keep the plant looking healthy and prevent seed production that drains the plant’s energy at the expense of forming new flowers.
