PLANT CARE ( Hoyaa )
You will need a range of between 18°C – 27°C / 65°F – 80°F for optimal growing temperatures.
This plant will need a reasonably lightroom in order to actually grow, although it will still get by even if you pick a shadier spot, very dark places need to be avoided though.
Average room (around 40% relative humidity). Dry air isn’t a problem with this succulent.
Water thoroughly spring through fall, allowing the potting mix to dry out a bit between waterings. This succulent won’t tolerate soggy soil. |
ADDITIONAL CARE
Since this Hoyaa is a vine, it can get a little out of hand especially if you’re not putting on a trellis. At this point, you’ve got to prune the part of the stem that seems out of proportion. Cut it back down to its node to achieve the kind of shape you want the plant to have. Hoyaa will normally produce a sticky sap at the cut portion. Those heart-shaped leaves that are discoloured and diseased should be pruned as well. This will allow for new leaves to grow and flourish. Remember not to cut the peduncle. This is the portion where the flowers of your valentine Hoyaa emerge. Leave that out because it will be the same location where new flowers will bloom the next year. Hoyaa is a slow grower so it won’t need repotting until a few years have passed.
