The Wax Jambu Apple | Java Apple | Semarang Rose Apple tree can endure dry soil for short period, but best to keep the soil moist at all times. Leaves curling, folding inward is a sign of lack of water. Increase watering when the days get warmer. However, If there’s not enough water given in the summer, the leaves may fold inward and get burned from the intense high sun. When the tree is flowering or setting fruits, increase watering slowly. In the winter, cut back watering.  This is time for the tree to rest since its growth has slowed. However, If the soil is too damp, it keeps the cold in the soil longer, harming the roots. Grow Wax Jambu Apple | Java Apple | Semarang Rose Apple in well drained soil to prevent waterlogging.  Especially if you get winter rain, you want the water to drain quickly so roots are not sitting in cold water for long period. Mix compost, worm casting, Perlite or sand, with native soil for growing it in the ground.  An organic potting mix for fruit trees can be purchased at any local nursery if you are growing in a pot.
