ADDITIONAL CARE
One of the most important aspects of caring for Mandevilla Splendens lies in providing the right substrate or potting soil. Mandevilla plants vines need loose, well-drained soil and the right balance of nutrition. A good compost-based potting mix or soil for container plants can make a good base, but you should mix it with some very fine gravel or sand for lightness and good aeration.
Keep Mandevilla plants in constantly moist soil for ideal results. Water your plants on a regular basis, but do not leave your Mandevilla in standing water.
Begin feeding your Mandevilla plant in early spring, when the growing season begins. At the start of the season, use a slow-release fertilizer, or apply a little amount of liquid fertilizer every other week. To allow new growth and many flowers, use a phosphorus-rich fertilizer.
Pruning your Mandevilla plants in late winter or early spring as part of your Mandevilla maintenance regimen can promote new growth.
