Ficus Bonsai Arial Roots I’d consider switching it up with something with more gravel and/or bark so it’s better aerated and faster draining. Apparently, gravel helps develop better roots. Pick a fertilizer that is lower in Nitrogen and higher in Phosphorus and Potassium. This will help promote further strong root growth
