PLANT CARE ( Cymbidium Orchid )
Ideal temperatures for the flower buds to set are 65°F–70°F (18.3°C–21.1°C) during the day and 10°–15°C at night.
Cymbidium orchids like as much bright, indirect light as you can provide, but avoid placing them in the direct sun.
High humidity is a necessity. If your home or office does not have at least 50% humidity, place your orchid plant on a wet pebble tray.
Keep the soil evenly moist from spring through summer. Cut back on watering during the cool period in the fall. |
ADDITIONAL CARE
Bring your Cymbidium Orchid outside once the danger of frost has passed. If kept indoors, the mechanisms these orchids need to bloom the next winter will not be triggered. They are semi-terrestrial, growing happily in the leaves and twigs of the forest floor, so don’t plant them in the ground. Keep Cymbidium orchids in their pots. Water frequently enough to keep the potting medium slightly moist during the winter. Water should drain freely through the pot, and the pot should not sit in a water-filled saucer. Fertilize monthly during the winter with a 20-20-20 fertilizer at half strength. Boat orchid blooms can last for months! When the flowers have finished blooming, you can trim the spikes back to the base of the plant.
NOTE
An example picture gives a trustworthy image of the plant with good care. The plant in the example picture is not the plant that will be delivered. This is an example, so variations are possible. Eventually, the delivered plant may differ in, for example, size, number of flowers, and number of branches. The plant will be in a plastic pot, not the one shown in the picture.
