ADDITIONAL CARE
Aphelandra Squarrosa | Zebra Plant is one of the more challenging houseplants to maintain. But it doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Those flowers require a lot of nutrition to grow! During the growing seasons of spring and summer, feed once a week. To feed your aphelandra, however, use a piece of solvent rapid plant food. Aim for a balanced fertilizer blend that has been diluted according to the instructions. Use a pot that is just 1 inch bigger than the original.
If the leaves of your Aphelandra Squarrosa begin to bend or become crinkled, your plant is receiving too much light. This is a real possibility! It is most common when your plant is exposed to direct sunlight. Move it to a more shady area so it can recover. If your potting mix is too dry, tip wilt might develop. This normally happens after you’ve softly watered it. The top and edges of the pot are damp, but the center is dry.
The use of fertilizer can greatly enhance the growth of the zebra plant, particularly it’s capacity to blossom. During its peak growing season, feed the zebra plant every one to two weeks using a fertilizer that is suitable for both foliage and flowers.
