ADDITIONAL CARE
The Alocasia Zebrina is sensitive to dry roots, so it’s essential to keep it well-watered while being cautious to avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. Watering little and often (two to three times a week) works best for this plant. Make sure to plant it in a pot with a drainage hole, allowing any excess water to escape and preventing waterlogging. Additionally, it’s important to clean the leaves regularly with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt, which helps the plant breathe better and improves photosynthesis.
During the active growing season, typically spring and summer, you can apply a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month to promote healthy growth. However, in the colder months when the Alocasia Zebrina enters dormancy, reduce both watering and fertilizing. This helps the plant conserve energy and prepare for the next growing cycle. It’s normal for the plant’s leaves and stems to die back during this time, so don’t be alarmed.
In winter, keep the plant in a warm, humid environment to prevent stress. The Alocasia Zebrina loves humidity, so consider using a humidifier or placing the plant on a tray with pebbles and water to maintain the ideal moisture levels. Once spring arrives, the plant will begin to regrow, revived and ready for another season of vibrant growth.
